Update 04/06/2020 2:04pm:

According to reports, YNW Melly and his team are asking a judge to release the rapper because he claims he is allegedly on the verge of passing away from COVID-19.

Legal documents were filed by the rapper's lawyer--Bradford Cohen, reportedly said Melly is suffering from body aches, headaches, heavy labored breathing, and severe chills. This comes after it was revealed that the rapper tested positive for the virus.

Cohen also says Melly is not properly being monitored by medical staff on the hour, and also that the rapper was placed in a cell with another inmate who has coronavirus. Cohen says there is fear around "if the virus can be mutated or passed reoccurring between individuals." The lawyer noted the jail Melly is being held in hasn't been given any masks or cleaning supplies that "would be beneficial regarding [Melly's] recovery."

Cohen and YNW Melly are asking the judge on his case for an early release with house arrest and treatment at a medical facility that the rapper would pay for. Stay tuned for more details.

Prisons have been said to be the most susceptible to widespread infection associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. While Tekashi 6ix9ine was recently released due to the virus and subjected to "home confinement," YNW Melly has found himself on the wrong side things as he was one of two inmates to contract the virus at Broward County Jail in Florida.

The news broke via Melly's IG page which captioned a photo of him with his family:

"Melly has tested positive for COVID-19 today while awaiting his trial in Broward County Jail. He’ll be filing a motion for restricted release in hopes of better care due to any jails not being prepared to treat this new virus. He hopes for your support and to recover soon #prayformelly send positive energy to him please"
