Update 03/27/2020 8:22pm:

Jon "Bones" Jones was recently arrested for a DWI and gun charge on Thursday morning in New Mexico. The police report states that Jones was driving under the influence in addition to his "negligent use of a firearm," after he allegedly fired off his weapon at some point during the night which prompted the initial call to police.

On Friday, body cam footage was released showing Jones going through the sobriety test and he tries explaining why he was driving while intoxicated. The UFC superstar told Albuquerque police: 

"I literally just got stir-crazy, [...] I just wanted to have a drive. This is my first drive in 2 weeks. And, I saw these homeless guys. I was being nice to them, having conversation with them, treating them like humans.”

After minutes of pleading his case, Jones was ultimately arrested. While being placed in the squad car Jones can be seen weeping as he says, "I'm scared for my family."

UFC star Jon "Bones" Jones was arrested for DWI and a gun charge early Thursday (March 26) morning, according to various reports. KOAT Action News reports that Jones was charged with driving under the influence, negligent use of a firearm and possession of an open container in Albuquerque around 1 am local time. 

Police initially responded to a gun being fired, and when they arrived to the scene they found Jones inside of a 2019 Jeep with the engine running and the car in park. He denied firing a gun, and Police suspected he was intoxicated by his appearance. They conducted a field sobriety test, which Jones allegedly failed, and he also blew over the legal limit with two breathalyzer tests. 

During a search of the vehicle, officers found a black handgun and a half-empty bottle of tequila behind the driver's seat. After being booked, Jones was released and has a bond arraignment court date set for April 9.
