Minnesota Timberwolves player Karl-Anthony Towns released a video on Wednesday (March 25), where he revealed that his mother tested positive for coronavirus and she's in a medically induced coma after her health continued to deteriorate.
Towns was visibly upset while speaking about his mother, revealing that when they thought she was doing better, her health took a quick decline. She was put on a ventilator and then in a medically induced coma. While things with his mother are uncertain, Towns was certain they would beat the virus, stating, "We're going to keep fighting on my side. We're going to win. My mother is the strongest woman I know, and I know she will beat this. And we will rejoice when she does."
He then addressed people taking the virus lightly, stating, "This disease is real. This disease needs not to be taken lightly. Please protect your families, your loved ones, your friends, yourself."
