Pras Michel, a member of the legendary group The Fugees, has been arrested for a $125,000 child support debt. The 47-year-old was arrested in a Manhattan courtroom after failing to provide substantive proof of child support payments to his ex-girlfriend, Angela Severiano, for their nine-year-old son.
Pras provided the judge with a tracking number that was supposed to indicate that the payment was sent but to no avail. He said that a friend mailed the check on his behalf, addressing the judge by stating, “If I didn’t do it, I wouldn’t say it happened.” Judge Carol Goldstein responded, “That’s not what I consider proof. You do not even know what day it was sent,” before ordering Pras be taken into custody and held on $5,000 before a new hearing next week.
