According to reports, the United States has signed a peace deal with the Taliban. This deal finds both sides wanting to put an end to the conflict that occurred in Afghanistan over the last 18 years.
The agreement will reportedly find all American and allied forces being withdrawn from Afghanistan in the upcoming 14 months. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo issued a statement saying, “We will closely watch the Taliban’s compliance with their commitments, and calibrate the pace of our withdrawal to their actions. This is how we will ensure that Afghanistan never again serves as a base for international terrorists.”
