L.A. rapper Blueface stirred controversy with his post about Pop Smoke being shot and killed this week, writing that out of town rappers should check in with the "right natives" when they are in his city. The full post reads, "People think Cali/LA is beautiful sunny palm trees n****s die here every single day I recommend artists coming this way get in touch with the right natives just to keep you up on speed soon as you relax an think it's cool this way that's when they strike."

New York rapper Loccie Shmula posted a video on Instagram in response to Blueface, asking him, "Why every time something happens to one of the Crips, you have something to say? You always negative with the s***, you don't ever have a heart-to-heart with the homeboys, or 'I send my respects'? You always have to say some slick s***." He then added, "I can tell nobody ever punched you in your mouth because of the s*** you be talking about."

In wake of Pop Smoke's death in Los Angeles early Wednesday morning, LA rapper Blueface used this as a lesson to artists from outside of Los Angeles. Via Instagram, he urged artists from out of town to be sure to get in touch with the "right natives" before moving around the city.

"People think Cali/LA is beautiful sunny palm trees," wrote Blueface, "n****s die here every single day I recommend artists coming this way get in touch with the right natives just to keep you up on speed soon as you relax an think it's cool this way that's when they strike."

Blueface was sure not to characterize this as "checking-in" but rather precautionary steps one needs to take in order to protect themselves while in Los Angeles and/or any other city.
