Taisha D. Smith-DeJoseph, 43, was recently arrested after she reportedly embezzled $561,000 from St. Paul’s Baptist Church in Florence Township, New Jersey where she volunteered. According to authorities, Smith-DeJoseph was using the stolen funds to pay for her wedding in addition to paying off her car loan, credit cards, and cell phone bills. Between 2014 and 2018, Smith-DeJoseph forwent filing taxes in order to cover up the scheme. She was charged with theft by deception, computer criminal activity, misapplication of entrusted property and other related offenses.
