According to reports, a tweet from Donald Trump in 2018 may have sparked the situation with Iran that resulted in a U.S. drone strike that left Iranian General Qassem Soleimani, along with many others dead.

In 2018, Donald Trump fired off a tweet directed at Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, acknowledging an alleged threat that was made to the U.S. Trump said, “Never, ever threaten the United States again or you will suffer consequences the likes of which few throughout history have ever suffered before. We are no longer a country that will stand for your demented words of violence & death. Be cautious!”

As a result of that, General Soleimani addressed Trump during a speech at a military base in Hamdan, saying Trump’s “idiotic comments” were issued “in the style of a bartender or casino manager.” Soleimani went on to say “Mr. Trump, the gambler! You are well aware of our power and capabilities in the region. Come, we are waiting for you. We are the real men on the scene, as far as you are concerned. You know that a war would mean the loss of all your capabilities. You may start the war, but we will be the ones to determine its end.
