According to reports, a federal jury ruled that Katy Perry’s 2013 hit “Dark Horse” ripped off a Christian rap song called “Joyful Noise.”

As a result, St. Louis Christian rapper Flame was awarded 2.789 million dollars. An appeal was filed in October, and attorneys for Katy Perry said the ruling is a “grave miscarriage of justice” and said the verdict could potentially create “serious harm to music creators and to the music industry as a whole.” Since then, Flame and his attorneys have reportedly argued to be paid more money for their work being copied. Stay tuned for more details in this situation.
