According to a new study published in the Harvard Business Review, of all the Fortune 500 companies, only three companies have black CEOs. This number is way down from the height of black chief executive officers in 2002 when 12 companies had an African American at the helm. The study also revealed dismal numbers in relation to the rate blacks reach partner status at major law firms (1.8%) with just 7% black higher education administrators and 8% nonprofit executive directors.

The remaining three black CEOs of Fortune 500 companies includes: Kenneth Frazier - Merck & Co., Marvin Ellison - Lowes, and Roger W. Ferguson Jr. - TIAA
