Update 10/18/2019 9:07am:

El Chapo's son, Ovidio Guzman Lopez, was arrested in the northern Mexican city of Culiacan on Thursday (October 17), which led to a shootout between the Sinaloa cartel and police. Citizens were seen abandoning their cars on the highway during the shootout, with videos emerging of parents lying on the ground to duck out of the way of gunfire.

Following the violent incident, Lopez was released by the Mexican government, leading many to question whether the Sinaloa cartel is bigger after El Chapo's arrest. The 28-year-old Lopez has been running the Sinaloa cartel along with his older brother, Ivan Archivaldo Guzman Salazar since El Chapo was captured and extradited to the U.S. in 2017.
