Robert Kevin Howard of North Carolina had a judge rule in his favor after suing his wife's lover under the state's "Homewrecker Law." Howard won a $750,000 judgment. He said that the affair in question began in 2016 but prior to that, he and his wife were happily married. The couple were wedded in June 2005, however, she asked for a divorce after Howard confronted her about the extramarital affair.

According to NBC News affiliate WITN, Howard knew his wife's lover and suspected that the affair was intentional on his part. As a result, Howard filed a lawsuit under North Carolina's Alienation of Affection tort.
