An updated mugshot for former Dallas police officer Amber Guyger was released on Wednesday (October 2) after she was found guilty of murder in the death of her neighbor, Botham Jean. Guyger was booked into the Dallas County Jail on Tuesday afternoon following her conviction, which is when the mugshot was taken. 

Guyger will return to court today (October 2) for the sentencing phase of her trial. She faces between five to 99 years in prison under Texas law and will not be eligible for probation.

The Botham Jean case found a guilty verdict being handed to Amber Guyger in the shooting death of Botham Jean. Now, footage of the judge reading the verdict to Amber Guyger has surfaced. Reports noted that the jury had been deliberating since Monday afternoon, and Botham Jean’s sister and mother could be seen crying during the verdict announcement.

Former Dallas Police officer Amber Guyger was found guilty of murdering her neighbor, Botham Jean, after thinking he was an intruder when she mistakenly entered his apartment last year. She faces a maximum of life in prison. 

This comes after jurors began deliberations on Monday (September 30) following a week-long trial. Guyger stated during the trial, "I never wanted to take an innocent person's life. I'm so sorry. This is not about hate — it's about being scared."
