High school wrestling referee, Alan Maloney, made waves after he forced a black student-athlete to cut off his dreadlocks in order to avoid disqualification. The incident went viral and an investigation was launched as a result. As the investigation concluded it was determined that Maloney would have to serve a two-year suspension before he is allowed to officiate another match. He will also be required to receive implicit bias training.
