Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Felipe Vasquez was arrested on charges of child pornography and solicitation. He was charged with one count of computer pornography—solicitation of a child, and one count of providing obscene material to minors.

Vasquez, who is considered one of the best pitchers in MLB, was arrested on a warrant that was out for him in Florida. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) revealed that they began investigating Vasquez over allegations that he had a sexual relationship with a 13-year-old girl two years ago. He allegedly sent the girl, who is now 15, a text that contained a video of him performing a sexual act and he suggested that they meet up to have sex once his Major League Baseball season ends this fall.

The Pirates released a statement on the matter, which reads, "Today we were made aware of an active law enforcement investigation involving Felipe Vázquez and his subsequent arrest. We take this matter, and these charges in particular, extremely seriously. We have informed the Commissioner's Office of the investigation and arrest. The Commissioner's Office will immediately place Felipe Vázquez on Administrative Leave (and, as a result, Restricted List) pursuant to the Joint MLB/MLBPA Policy. We need to be respectful to all involved and the ongoing legal proceeding. As a result, the organization, our staff and players cannot comment any further at this time."

More details to come.
