Update 08/22/2019 9:35am:

Jermaine Dupri sat down with Atlanta's V-103 recently, where he addressed Funk Flex's recent tweet about Jay-Z allegedly suggesting that JD back out of a deal with the NFL. Funk Flex's original tweet read, "I JUST GOT OFF THE PHONE WITH JERMAINE DUPRI... HE CONFIRMED THAT WHEN HE WAS WORKING WITH THE NFL LAST YEAR HE DID GET A CALL FROM JAYZ ASKING HIM.. 'HOW DEEP ARE U IN WITH THE NFL?' EXPRESSING... 'THAT MIGHT NOT BE A GOOD IDEA.'"

Dupri told V-103 that Jay-Z never told him to back out of an NFL deal, which led to Funk Flex responding on Instagram. Flex wrote, "Hahahah! I love you Jermaine for life! NFL / ROCNATION applying that pressure for YOU to backpedal! (Body Language is everything) ITS WEDNESDAY BRUH? THIS HAPPENED MONDAY? ( I finally understand what Kap / Nessa been Experiencing!)"

One of the most controversial elements of the new partnership between JAY-Z and the NFL was the revelation that Jay spoke with Jermaine Dupri to deter him from partnering with the league before he eventually struck a deal with the NFL. There has been much talk around this particular portion of the story but Jermaine Dupri remained publicly silent. However, he hopped on the radio station V-103 in Atlanta to tell what happened from his perspective and clarified that Hov never tried to get him to back out of any deals with the NFL.
