Update 08/06/2019 3:35pm:

Cardi B recently asked that she be granted a protective order for her videotaped deposition in the case related to her ex-manager. Cardi reportedly does not want her information about her and husband out in the open and also does not want to be memed. However, news has surfaced that her ex-manager does not want the video of her deposition to be sealed.

Cardi’s ex-manager—Shaft said the rapper’s request to have the video sealed shouldn’t be acknowledged since the deposition hasn’t even gone down yet. Shaft and his team went on to say “we dispute the implication that a preemptive blank designation is the appropriate solution.”

According to TMZ, Cardi B has filed a request to have the video from her deposition kept under wraps to avoid being memed. Cardi is in a legal slugfest with her former manager and believes her taped deposition including the deposition transcripts and other documents could go public and jeopardize the case as well as expose intimate details about her private life. Her legal team was particularly direct when describing the fallout from internet memes and GIFs. Cardi's attorneys noted, "it is highly likely that any such video will be reproduced and edited (and possibly manipulated) into out-of-context video clips and GIFs of her testimony."

As previously reported, Cardi's former manager has sued her back in 2018 for $10 million claiming to have transformed her into an A-List celebrity. Cardi returned with a countersuit of $15 million. There hasn't been a ruling on Cardi's request as of yet, but her deposition is scheduled to take place during the second week of August.
