R. Kelly pled not guilty to charges of racketeering, kidnapping, forced labor and sexual exploitation of a child in federal court in Brooklyn on Friday (August 2). After previously requesting to be put on monitored house arrest, Kelly's bond was denied. According to Kelly's attorney, Douglas Anton, Kelly was "irritated" at the decision to deny his bond.

Kelly was indicted last month for coercing and transporting women and girls across state lines to engage in illegal sexual activity as far back as 1999. Five unnamed women were named in the indictment, including three minors, as Kelly is accused of transporting them in Illinois, Connecticut, California and New York. Feds say "Kelly and his crew traveled throughout the United States and abroad to recruit these women and girls."
