YG took to Twitter to clear his name after his "BULLETPROOF" Escalade was involved in a shooting and pursuit by a deputy in Compton. 

On Friday (July 5) afternoon, YG wrote, "I was nowhere near the scene of this incident, I was in Hollywood recording in the studio all day. I was there until after midnight on the 4th of July and didn’t learn of these events until after they happened!" 


Update 07/05/2019 10:46am: 

According to sources close to the situation, the vehicle that was involved in the shooting and subsequent pursuit was YG's "BULLETPROOF" Cadillac Escalade that he unveiled months ago after dropping his third studio album, Stay Dangerous

Shots were fired from the vehicle after officers arrived on the scene to respond to a possible DUI. A pursuit ensued after shots rang out through Compton into the Inglewood section of Greater Los Angeles.

A Cadillac Escalade registered to YG was involved in a shooting with a deputy in Compton that led to a pursuit, according to local station ABC 7. It's unknown at this time whether YG was in the SUV during the incident. 

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department revealed that officers first responded to a report of a reckless DUI suspect. Once police arrived on the scene, shots were fired from the SUV, leading to a pursuit that ended in Inglewood. The suspects in the SUV fired shots at deputies during the chase, hitting one of the deputies who suffered minor injuries. Authorities revealed that one bystander was killed in the crossfire during the incident. 

At least one person was detained in the incident and another is believed to be outstanding.
