According to a report that surfaced via New York Times, 2Pac’s estate along with other acts are suing Universal Music Group over a fire that took place in 2008 that destroyed thousands of recordings from a music archive. In the suit, the acts and the estate representatives for the deceased acts said the information about the fire was never given to the artists.

The suit said “UMG concealed its massive recovery from plaintiffs, apparently hoping it could keep it all to itself by burying the truth in sealed court filings and a confidential settlement agreement.” The claim made is seeking up $100 million in damages. Some of the assets reportedly lost in the fire included the original recordings from groups and acts like The Roots, the Police, Ray Charles, Elton John, and more.
