There's no doubt that it's already been a tough year for hip-hop in 2019, as thus far the culture has endured numerous tragedies including the losses of Nipsey Hussle and Bushwick Bill in recent months. Furthermore, it's now being reported that Shorty from Da Lench Mob has passed away, following a GoFundMe for Jerome (Shorty) Muhammad that was posted back in September.

Though further details haven't been made available, the culture will remember Shorty for his contributions to West Coast hip-hop in the early 90s, where along with group members T-Bone and J-Dee, the LA-based Da Lench Mob went gold on their debut album Guerillas in tha Mist.

Prior to that, however, the group made their official debut on Ice Cube's first solo album AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted, and later released their only other project Planet of da Apes in 1994. Additionally, it should be noted that the title track for Guerillas in tha Mist was featured in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, one of the best-selling video games of all time.
