Update 06/14/2019 8:39pm:

Five Trinitario gang members were convicted of all four charges each had faced in the murder of 15-year-old Lesandro "Junior" Guzman-Feliz in a bodega last year. On Friday (June 14), they were convicted of first-degree murder, second-degree murder, second-degree conspiracy and second-degree gang assault by a jury of 11 women and one man, who deliberated for less than two days.

The men, Jonaiki Martinez Estrella, 25, Antonio Rodriguez Hernandez Santiago, 25, Jose Muniz, 23, Manuel Rivera, 19, and Elvin Garcia, 25, were part of a group who killed Guzman in a case of mistaken identity after dragging him out of a bodega. The men will be sentenced on July 16 and face a maximum sentence of life in prison without parole. Eight others are awaiting trial.

Video of the incident provided prosecutors with hard evidence of the crime, but according to The New York Times, defendants Kevin Alvarez, 20, and Michael Reyes, 20 worked with prosecutors for a more lenient sentence. Alvarez and Reyes detailed the inner workings of the Trinitarios and their subsets, Los Sures and Bad Boys, and revealed that members of Los Sures took orders from Diego Suero, aka "Santa Claus." They claim that they took orders from Suero to attack members of a rival gang called Sunset.

Both men also detailed the events leading up to Guzman being attacked, including lying to the owner of the bodega where the teen was hiding to unlock the door so they could take him outside. Once outside, the group of men started asking Guzman questions and he denied being in Sunset, but they attacked him anyway. A medical examiner testified that it was Mr. Martinez Estrella that delivered the fatal blow to Guzman, stabbing the teen in the neck and hitting his jugular vein.
