Back in January, Chris Brown was arrested and then released in Paris after being accused of rape, where it was then revealed that Brown filed a defamation lawsuit against his accuser while the investigation continued.
Now months later, the singer was reportedly not in attendance for a court appearance regarding the case, and has now been called out by his accuser's lawyers for how he's "thumbed his nose at and shown disrespect for the French legal system."
Additionally, another attorney stated that Brown’s “failure to appear today is very unfair to my client, but I assure him that my client will not be deterred from seeking justice,” as it's otherwise been noted that Brown was not obligated to attend the "formal confrontation" with his alleged victim.

Update 01/22/2019: French police reveal that Chris Brown has been released without charges after being questioned on suspicion of rape, but an investigation is continuing.
Following his release, Chris wrote on Instagram, "I want to make it perfectly clear, this is false. This b*** lyin'."

Chris Brown has been arrested after news broke of a rape allegation brought against him in Paris. Authorities have Brown and two others in custody after the report was filed on Monday. A prosecuting source told the UK's Evening Standard, "He is accused of a rape and is being held at the judicial police offices in the 1st arrondissement, [...] He was arrested with two others on Monday, and interviews and other enquiries are ongoing. The offence is said to have taken place on the night of January 15 this year.”
Another source stated, “A total of three men were arrested at Mr Brown’s hotel. They did not resist police, and now have lawyers representing them.” The singer will remain in police custody while investigators probe the matter.
According to reports, Chris Brown finds himself under investigation for rape charges by French authorities. A 24-year-old woman in France claims the superstar entertainer raped her earlier this month, between Jan. 15-16th. She alleges that the rape took place at the Le Mandarin Oriental hotel where Brown's bodyguard and a friend also abused her. Paris parquet has officially opened a case in wake of the woman's allegations and is currently investigating the matter.
CB has yet to release a statement on these new allegations.
