News surfaced recently where a Portland, Oregon student with a shotgun entered a classroom and attempted to go after other students. The student was reportedly stopped by a high school football coach who was present. The coach—Keanon Lowe wrestled the student to the ground and took the gun away from the student.
No one was injured in the situation, and police noted that by the time they arrived at the school, the student was being held in the hallway by a staff member.
The football coach also works as a security guard at the school as well. Lowe issued a statement on the incident, saying “I’m just happy everyone was OK. I’m happy I was able to be there for the kids and for the community."
