Following a bill signed into law Wednesday (May 15) that's one of the most restrictive actions taken against abortion in the United States, Rihanna has taken to social media to condemn the Alabama lawmakers behind the new legislation.

Alabama’s Republican governor, Kay Ivey, signed the bill that has made an abortion a felony in nearly all cases with no exceptions for rape and incest, all of which are punishable by up to life in prison. Ivey saws the new law is a testament to the belief that “every life is a sacred gift from God,” as Democrats, abortion rights advocates, and multiple celebrities including Rihanna have called it a slap in the face to women.

"Take a look. these are the idiots making decisions for WOMEN in America," the pop star wrote on IG next to a photo of all the men who voted in favor of the bill, "Governor Kay Ivey...SHAME ON YOU!!!!"

Additionally, other celebrities such as Lady Gaga, Alyssa Milano, and Kerry Washington have voiced similar outrage on social media, with Gaga noting how particularly unfair the law is in consideration to victims of race and incest.

With that said, women whose health are at serious risk would not be punished for getting or seeking out an abortion, making them the only exception to the new state law that's now headed to the Supreme Court.
