Over the years Steve Harvey has triggered numerous debates regarding various controversial subjects, therefore he's likely not surprised that an older video circulating online has now garnered similar results.

In the clip from 2015, Harvey is seen speaking to his audience as part of his Morning Inspiration series, where the talk show host claims with emphasis that if you want to be wealthy then you have to cut back on the hours you sleep.

“Rich people don’t sleep eight hours a day,” Harvey said to his studio audience, “That’s a third of your life. It ain’t but 24 hours in a day! You cannot be sleep eight hours a day! You can’t live in L.A. and wake up at 8 o’clock in the morning. It’s 11 o’clock on the east coast. The stock market's been open for two hours. They already making decisions about your life and your a** was sleep!"

Harvey then went on to recite a passage from The Bible, which reads: ‘he who loves to sleep and the folding of hands, poverty will set upon you like a thief in the night.”

The clip that recently resurfaced on Twitter inspired a platform-wide discussion debating the merits of Harvey’s take, with many sharing their opinions as to why they found the advice both misguided and inaccurate. One celebrity who chimed in was model Chrissy Teigen, who said she actually sleeps 12 hours a day while Forbes estimates her net worth to be around $13 million.

Additionally, it's been noted that some of the world's wealthiest people have previously said that they prioritize a good night sleep, including Warren Buffett, Elon Musk and, Mark Zuckerberg who have a combined net worth of more than $180 billion.
