A college student in New York is reportedly suing Apple for $1 billion after claiming that the company’s facial recognition software in the store falsely connected him to a run of thefts in the Apple store.

18-year-old Ousmane Bah said he got a summons from a court in Boston noting that he stole over $1,200 worth of Apple products in 2018. Bah noted that on one of the days the theft took place, he was at his senior prom in Manhattan. Along with that, the suit says Bah was blamed for Apple store thefts in Manhattan, New Jersey, and Delaware.

Bah is claiming that someone used his lost ID to assume his identity after they were caught stealing the goods from the store. In Bah’s complaint, he said he was “forced to respond to multiple false allegations,” and that his life has been “deeply and negatively affected.” Stay tuned for more details.
