On Friday (April 12), L.A. City Council voted unanimously today to rename the intersection of Crenshaw and Slauson after Nipsey Hussle. A petition to rename the intersection after the famed rapper after he was tragically gunned down outside of his store, Marathon Clothing.

Councilmember Marqueece Harris-Dawson spoke as Nipsey's family stood behind him, and he stated, "Nipsey was a Grammy-nominated music icon and hip hop artist. He was a West Coast hero who spent his resources and his life giving back to the community." 

This comes one day after Nipsey was honored at a celebration of life ceremony at the Staples Center, which held 21,000 mourning fans. Among the people who spoke at the ceremony was Snoop Dogg, Minister Farrakhan, and Nipsey's longtime partner Lauren London
