After his bombshell announcement immediately resigning as president of basketball operations for the Los Angeles Lakers, Magic Johnson spoke with ESPN's Rachel Nichols afterward to explain his decision a bit further. For starters, Magic stated why he chose not to tell Lakers owner Jeanie Buss of his decision prior to the presser pointing out that she would've talked him out of it. 

Ultimately, Magic said he believes he will be happier being "Magic" without the restrictions and pressure of a franchise executive.

Magic Johnson announced that he's stepping down from his role as the team's president of basketball of operations. This comes two years after Magic took the position, and he told the press that he made his decision because he "had more fun when I was able to be the big brother and the ambassador to everybody." 

He added, "I got a great life. I’m like, ‘Damn I have a great life outside of this. What am I doing? You know, I have a beautiful life. I’m going to go back to that beautiful life. I’m looking forward to it."
