Update 04/09/2019 11:21am:

Following the controversy surrounding "Old Town Road" that made Lil Nas X's breakthrough single the #1 song in America, the 20-year-old artist has now become a household name in two genres rather than one. Now it appears that the viral sensation is ready to capitalize on the moment even further, as he's recruited Young Thug to be on the official remix of what currently sits atop the Billboard 100.

Both Lil Nas X and Young Thug have teased the collaboration on their social media accounts with snippets as well as the use of emojis, though at the moment it's unknown if Billy Ray Cyrus will be included in this particular remix.

All the same, Lil Nas X currently described the record as "country trap", explaining that "it’s not one, it’s not the other. It’s both. It should be on both [charts].” He then went on to credit Young Thug for helping bridge the gap between different genres of music, believing the Slime Season artist to be "one of the biggest pioneers in that.”

Last month, Lil Nas X's hit song "Old Town Road" was removed from the Billboard Hot Country chart for not being country enough, sparking backlash among fans of the song.

Following the controversy, Lil Nas X hopped in the studio with country star and Miley Cyrus' father, Billy Ray Cyrus, for a remix of the track. This comes after Billy Ray addressed Lil Nas X after his song was taken off of the country chart, telling the young artist, "When I got thrown off the charts, Waylon Jennings said to me ‘Take this as a compliment’ means you’re doing something great! Only Outlaws are outlawed. Welcome to the club!"
