Update 04/04/2019 7:26am:

Just a couple of weeks after announcing his retirement from the sport that brought him fame and fortune, Conor McGregor is already teasing a return. He wrote on Twitter: "I want to move forward, with my fans of all faiths and all backgrounds. All faiths challenge us to be our best selves. It is one world and one for all. Now see you in the Octagon."

It seems as though Dana White was correct when asked if he thought McGregor's "retirement" would hold, to which White stated: "No. I think that there's some things that Conor wants, and I think that Conor wants to get together face-to-face, he and I, and we probably will in the next couple of weeks, and we'll get this thing figured out."

Conor McGregor is quite possibly one of the most self-absorbed athletes in recent memory so certain stunts and antics all feed the beast in the end. That could explain why McGregor's latest announcement comes as a surprise but could also be a ploy for more attention. Nevertheless, The Notorious MMA announced that he would be retiring from the sport that has brought him global fanfare. He wrote on Twitter:

Hey guys quick announcement, I’ve decided to retire from the sport formally known as “Mixed Martial Art” today. I wish all my old colleagues well going forward in competition. I now join my former partners on this venture, already in retirement. Proper Pina Coladas on me fellas!

This isn't the first time that McGregor has pulled the retirement card. He also spoke about it back in 2016, tweeting: "I have decided to retire young. Thanks for the cheese. Catch ya's later." Despite pulling this move before, it should be interesting to see if McGregor has really transitioned out of the sport and what his post-fighting endeavors will end up being.
