The St. Patrick's Day spirit was with Conor McGregor recently at Binny's Beverage Depot in Chicago, when the MMA star stood on the bar to announce that a trilogy fight with Nate Diaz is bound to happen.
"He fought me, he beat me," McGregor said to his fans below, "He gave me a rematch at the exact same weight, there was no hesitation, that's a true fighter right there." From there he added that he has nothing but respect for Diaz, clearly stating that "I owe him the trilogy now and the trilogy will happen."
McGregor first fought Diaz at UFC 196 in March of 2016, where he was choked out and submitted in an epic brawl with the fighter from Stockton, California. McGregor then avenged that loss with a 5-round decision at UFC 202 in August 2016, leading the talk to a rubber match ever since.
With that said, McGregor is reportedly still eyeing rematches with Floyd Mayweather and Khabib Nurmagomedov, the latter of what was the #1 UFC PPV fight of all time, with McGregor vs Diaz 1 & II right behind it.
In separate news, however, it's been reported that McGregor wants ownership of UFC shares before he steps back in the octagon, thus leaving fights for the immediate future up to question.
