Pennsylvania pediatrician, Dr. Johnnie "Jack" Barto, has been sentenced between 79 and 158 years in prison after pleading guilty to sexually abusing 31 children during his time as a practicing doctor. Ironically, Barto was cleared of molestation charges by the state board of medicine roughly 20 years ago but has since pleaded guilty to assaulting two family members and entered a no contest plea for assaulting over two dozen others.
Barto's wife, Linda, spoke about her disgraced husband's sentencing and noted, “There is not a day when I don’t feel heaviness in my heart for his victims, [...] his whole sinister life lying and sneaking around so he could carry on his abuse uninterrupted.” Prosecutors say Barto abused both male and female patients in his exam room at Laurel Pediatric Associates as well as other medical facilities. Barto's attorney says the doctor doesn't plan to appeal his sentence.
