J. Cole has made headlines over the years for going platinum with no features, which he addressed in his recent cover story with GQ.
Cole's last three albums, 2014 Forest Hills Drive, 4 Your Eyez Only, and KOD were platinum with no features, which he said was great until it became overkill. When speaking about people on the internet bringing up his solo success, he explained, "I was loving it. I was like, ‘Word up — this is funny as hell.’ But the second or third time, I was like, 'All right, it’s almost embarrassing now.' Like, ‘All right, man, y’all gonna make me put a feature on the album just so this s*** can stop.'"
When speaking about upcoming features, Cole stated, "Well, I don’t have any right now that I really want to boast about. Not saying it’s impossible. It’s just about getting out of my comfort zone."
