In what's likely to be considered one of the most bizarre videos of the new year, Dave Chappelle was recently a guest on John Mayer's Live IG show "Current Mood," where the comedian called Daniel Caesar "gay" while the singer was standing off-camera in the same room.

During the broadcast, Mayer referenced how Chappelle had recently just met Caesar and heard him sing for the first time, to which Chappelle replied with his patented delivery "yes, very gay." The room was then filled with a mixture of laughter and confusion, leading Caesar to take offense to the joke while Mayer looked to make sense of what Chappelle was trying to say.

Upon seeing that the joke might not have gone over well, Chappelle initially tried to clean up his comments by introducing Caesar as an "amazing musician from Toronto," yet off-camera you can hear Caesar wasn't amused by Chappelle's routine at all.

"What the f*** was that?" Caesar then asked Chappelle, before saying that he was offended but too drunk to take the matter any further. From there, Chappelle elaborated on how the young singer was an excellent musician, which prompted Caesar to concede that he "was being too sensitive."

Although Chappelle was quick to agree with that sentiment, Mayer contested that point of view while trying to mediate and reach a better understanding. In the final moments of the clip, Caesar appears on camera to express his admiration of Chappelle's work, which left the comedian to say: "Well now I feel bad because you feel bad, but we're never going to fight about you feeling bad," which led to more nervous laughter in the room.
