Just yesterday (March 6) R. Kelly was jailed for failing to pay his child support, and now a new segment of his interview with Gayle King sheds some light on why he might have missed his payments.

Within the interview, King asks Kelly about not being able to pay his 100K bond when he was arrested for sexual abuse in late February, to which he explained was due to people close to him robbing him blind.  "So many people have been stealing my money," Kelly explained, "people were connected to my account, I went by myself for the first time to Bank of America, didn't know what I was doing, didn't know what the hell was going on... and tried to transfer my money to another account."

At that point, King wanted to clarify the timetable of when Kelly went to the bank for the first time, to which he replied was 3 weeks ago because he was tired of not knowing where his money was. When asked "isn't that on you?", he replied "a lot of it's on me," prior to denying that he lost his money through settlements for prior cases. According to court documents, however, Kelly settled with three women who said they had sex with the singer when they were minors.

A day after visiting the bank he was indicted on 10 counts of sexual abuse, and then claimed that he couldn't assess his bank accounts to pay the $100K bail.

"How could I pay child support, How?" Kelly asked King incredulously, "if my ex-wife is destroying my name and I can't work? How can I work? How can I get paid? How can I take care of my kids? How? Use your common sense!"

From there, King reminded Kelly that his ex-wife had accused him of abusing her as well, with allegations that he dismissed as more lies. At one point, the production team in the studio tried to calm the singer down, where he openly wept as he turned down tissues and questioned if he should leave.

"For 13 years I was married to her, I flew in on a helicopter with a puppy and I proposed to Drea who I was in love with, we had beautiful kids, never once have I had a domestic violence call at my house, it never happened."

Kelly concluded by saying "What kind of woman would tear down a dad who wants to have a relationship with their kids? You know how many kids need a relationship with your father?" With that said, it's been reported that Kelly hasn't spoken to his children in years.
