A new report surfaced saying a man who is HIV positive is now remission after receiving a bone-marrow transplant.

The anonymous London man was tested by doctors who said the virus was undetected in the man’s system even though he has been off of the antiretroviral therapy for 18 months. This news arrived via a research paper published by the man’s doctors.

The study’s head author issued a statement and said: “By achieving remission in a second patient using a similar approach, we have shown that the Berlin Patient was not an anomaly, and that it really was the treatment approaches that eliminated HIV in these two people.”

This man’s case comes 10 years after another man was revealed to be the first person cured of HIV.
