Steve Greenberg, R. Kelly's attorney, spoke to the press on Friday (February 22) evening and stated that one of the singer's charges may be tied to his decade-old child pornography case. Greenberg told the press, "Double jeopardy should bar that case. He won that case," referring to the sex tape that allegedly features R. Kelly engaging in sexual acts with a 14-year-old girl.

Greenberg also stated that he felt like all of the women in the "Surviving R. Kelly" documentary were lying, adding that he feels they were opportunists who were looking for a payday. Greenberg also took multiple jabs at Michael Avenatti, the lawyer representing six people in the investigation, including two alleged victims. Avenatti turned over the tape to Cook County State's Attorney Kim Foxx, and he shared up-close screenshots he claims are of R. Kelly's face in the tape.
