According to reports, Universal Music Group is being sued by the producers of an unauthorized Drake documentary called ‘Drake: Re-Writing The Rules.’

The lawsuit was filed by a company called Symettrica Entertainment, and the suit says UMG sent out a notice to remove all of Drake’s music along clips of the rapper from the documentary.

Documents show that Symettrica isn’t rocking with UMG and their request, saying the gesture “has nothing to do with purported 'copyright infringement,' and everything to do with placating its artist Drake by attempting to suppress any commentary or criticism of Drake."

TMZ noted the documentary came out via Vevo in November 2018, then went to Amazon, Netflix, and iTunes on January 16. However, Symettrica says they got a notice from Universal Music Group the day after the release, and two days later the doc was pulled by the platforms. The entertainment company says Drake footage and music in the film is covered by fair use.

Symettrica is suing UMG for undisclosed damages.
