New Orleans Pelicans star Anthony Davis is being fined $50,000 after his agent, Rich Paul, told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski that Davis "wants to be traded to a team that allows him a chance to win consistently and compete for a championship." Paul's statement violated the NBA's rule for players and their agents to not publicly demand a trade.
The $50,000 is the maximum the NBA can fine a player without them filing a grievance, and doesn't seem like a lot when compared to the $25,434,263 Davis will be making this season.
League sources are expecting Davis and Paul to announce soon that he will be going to the Lakers and he'll become a rental player with a trade anywhere else.
