Update 01/25/2019:

There's a new twist in the story of the tragic death of Kevin Fret, a Puerto Rican rapper who was openly gay as well as an advocate for the LBGT community. It's now being reported that Fret was allegedly extorting another Puerto Rican artist named Ozuna, a reggaeton star that apparently lost possession of an "intimate tape" he made when he was a minor.

Ozuna was allegedly being extorted over the tape by Frett, who had reportedly threatened to expose him on social media back in 2017. Ozuna's lawyer, Antonio Sagardía, confirmed that the artist paid Fret $50,000 in exchange for not releasing the video, before reporting the extortion to the F.B.I.

With that said, Sagardía insists that Ozuna had "nothing to do with his death," and that he's not a suspect, while the reggaeton singer has released a public statement in regards to the sensitive video.

“What happened was a mistake of the past," Ozuna wrote in his statement. "Like many young people, I made a mistake, fueled by ignorance. Today, I’m not only sorry for what happened, but I condemn it. That’s why I looked for help and I am certain everything will be cleared. Likewise, I’m following the process and am always willing to collaborate with authorities to prevent the evil that resulted from this big mistake. More importantly, I ask my family for forgiveness. They are my life’s priority and I will continue to fight for them always.”

Nonetheless, there are no reports that suggest that Ozuna was involved in Fret's murder.
