Recently, news surfaced that both ‘Black Panther’ and  Spike Lee’s ‘BlacKkKlansman’ were nominated in the Best Picture category for the Oscars.

According to reports, ‘Black Panther’ is the first ever superhero movie to get nominated for best picture. The movie is up against ‘Bohemian Rhapsody,’ ‘The Favorite,’ ‘Green Book,’ ‘Roma,’ ‘A Star Is Born,’ ‘Vice,’ and ‘BlacKkKlansman.’

Spike Lee’s ‘BlacKkKlansman’ marks the first time he received an Oscar nomination as a director. Previously, Lee was nominated for best screenplay for ‘Do The Right Thing’ in 1990 and nominated for the movie ‘4 Little Girls’ in 1998.
