Only two days before Christmas, 26-year-old Eric Charles Allen was shot dead in his home by a rifle held by his girlfriend, 20-year-old Autumn King, who said it was an accident that occurred while Allen was posing for a picture on Snapchat.

Now this past Monday (Jan. 14), Austin, Texas police arrested King based on new developments in the case, mainly through evidence found on their cell phones that was recorded only 15 minutes prior to the fatal shooting. In the recordings, the couple can be heard and seen arguing about cheating in their relationship, and their apparent justification for doing so.

Originally, King had told detectives that the couple was “trying to be like Bonnie and Clyde” on Snapchat when the gun mistakenly fired. She maintained that while Allen tried to take the picture, she accidentally pulled the trigger.

“Autumn said that Eric dropped to the ground," the police report read, "but Autumn thought that Eric was ‘playing,’ and she told him to get up.” She then proceeded to call 911, who arrived to find their two young children who were present during the incident.

In remembrance of Allen, relatives called him a “beloved brother and family man,” while the Austin Police Department reports that the case will be forwarded to the district attorney's office for further review.
