YG previously spoke about how his song caught the attention of the Secret Service, explaining, "They asked if they could see the lyrics on my album to see if I'm talking about it on my album. 'Cause I'm talking about it on my album, they gon' try to take it off the shelf."
He later explained why he decided to speak out, stating, "This s*** is bigger than hip-hop. We’re supposed to use our platform to speak up and bring our brothers together and put some light on some of this s*** that’s not right for our people."
