Over the weekend, rumors began to swirl that the dynamic duo known as Rae Sremmurd had split apart, when 1/2 of the group publicly declared on social media that the Sremmlife movement was over.
In since-deleted tweets, Slim Jxmmi made his position clear by saying "I'm not Rae Sremmurd I'm Slim Jxmmi and ima sink or swim by myself, " later adding "Y'all still got ya mans Swae yall be straight," next to further posts that read "Not Sremmlife" and "RIP Slim Jxm."
From there, DJ Akademiks took to social media to question whether the breakup was real, writing "I hope he's just joking. First Uzi delete his album and then Rae Sremmurd break up?," which is when things began to take a left turn.
Responding to Akademiks post, Trippie Redd wrote "He finally realized we only listened to Swae Lee's parts," which led Slim Jxmmi to tell Trippie to "stay in a child's place."
Trippie then took the disrespect a step further, writing in his own IG Story post "@slimjxmmi music trash and he a b****," to which Slim replied "You can't fight." Later on, Slim responded to a fan to say that Trippie was "Swae's offspring," before adding that the reasons for Rae Sremmurd's potential breakups are deeper than what the public knows.
