Update 01/10/2019:

After news broke yesterday (Jan. 9) about Jeff Bezos impending divorce from his wife of 25 years, MacKenzie Bezos, it's now been confirmed that the couple married in 1993 without a prenuptial agreement.

That means in the state of Washington where there are "community property rules," couples without a prenup split assets down the middle, thus meaning the Amazon CEO's fortune of $137B could be cut directly in half with a 50/50 split.

It should also be noted, that the Bezos additionally own 400,000 acres of property, which makes them 2 of the biggest landholders in the United States. How all of that will be divided remains to be seen.

With all that said, the couple has stated that the divorce is amicable.
