Although it may appear that Kevin Hart is the King of Comedy for the new generation, the numbers suggest that the crown still belongs to Jerry Seinfeld.

Forbes just released their annual list of the highest-paid comedians in the world, with the Seinfeld creator sitting atop the list with $57.5 million earned before taxes and fees.

Seinfeld's earnings over that time can be attributed to his deals with Netflix and Hulu, in addition to the $30 million he made off his stand-up routine alone.

Since 2006, Seinfeld has topped Forbes list every year aside from 2016, when he was dethroned by Kevin Hart, who finds himself at #2 on the list. In fact, Hart is actually only $500K short of the #1 spot this year, having made a cool $57 million off his own standup special as well as the Jumanji remake, that grossed an estimated $1 billion worldwide.

Despite those individual efforts, the overall income of all the highest paid comedians is down from last year, largely due to fewer Netflix deals.
