Anytime faith and religion are used for financial gain there's bound to be controversy, as South Carolina megachurch Pastor John Gray is finding out after backlash he's received for buying his wife a $200,000 car.

To celebrate their 8th anniversary, Pastor Gray bought his wife a Lamborghini Urus and broadcasted the surprise in a Facebook video that's since been deleted.

After receiving a flood of criticism from those questioning how the Lamborghini was paid for, Pastor Gray released a follow-up video to dismiss the speculation and explain his good intentions.

"First of all, it wasn’t a pastor that bought the car, it was a husband that bought the car -- get that in your spirit,” Pastor Gray says with great passion in his voice, "I am a husband first, don't confuse what I do with who I am."

Throughout the 23-minute explanation, Pastor Gray speaks often about his humble beginnings where he never saw his elders be good husbands to their wives, thus lied his motivation in being the best provider he could be.

Explaining his financial situation, Pastor Gray explained that "for those that don't know, me and my wife have a show on the Oprah Winfrey Network, we're working on the fourth season and I'm not an actor I'm a producer, get that straight." It should be noted that he's also published books as well.

Without mincing words, Pastor Gray looked directly into the camera and said, "Not a penny from this church went to the gift that I gave my wife... and God take my life on this live feed if I did."
