Jon "Bones" Jones is officially cleared to compete in the upcoming UFC 232. The UFC star was reinstated by the state of California in time for him to fight on December 29th. Jones was banned from competition after testing positive for the anabolic steroid Turinabol ahead of his bout with Daniel Cormier back in July 2017.

Jones was subsequently handed a 15-month suspension by the US Anti-Doping Agency with the California State Athletic Commission vowing to uphold the ruling. The upcoming fight against Alexander Gustafsson is slated to happen in Las Vegas but the Nevada State Athletic Commission wouldn't clear Jones to participate unless California reinstated him first.

On Tuesday, Jones met with the CSAC and was reinstated unanimously and given a temporary license. He was also ordered to pay a fine of $205,000. CSAC executive director Andy Foster expressed his belief that Jones isn't an intentional doper. He told reporters, "I just don’t believe it. If he is, he’s the worst doper in combat sports. He fails the one test he knows is coming."
