Update 12/08/2018:

Previously, news surfaced noting Buju Banton would be released soon. Now, footage of the legendary Dancehall artist as a free man has surfaced. Buju was released from the McRae Correctional facility after serving seven years for intent to sell more than five kilograms of cocaine. Buju made his return back to Jamaica as seen in the footage above. 


Original 12/07/2018:

A prison official confirmed to Jamaica's The Star that the famed musician will be released from the McRae Correctional institution "at some point today," December 7. The same official couldn't reveal when Buju, who has been incarcerated for seven years after being found guilty of intent to deal more than 5kg of cocaine, will be returning back to Jamaica.

Buju released a statement, which read, "I only want to be associated with my craft. Having survived, I want to share the good news and strength of my music. I just want to continue making music, which I've devoted my life to. I look forward to the opportunity to say a personal thanks to my fans and everyone who supported me."
